| September 28, 2004 -- I picked my load up late last night at
Greenville, Mississippi. I spent the night last night at a small truck stop
just north of Clarksdale, Mississippi, which is about 75 miles south of
Memphis on U.S. Hwy. 61. Mississippi has dramatically improved their road
system in recent years. Most of U.S. Hwy. 61 is four lanes. I guess they
must be spending the state portion of that gambling revenue on road
improvement. Mississippi deserves a lot of credit for really having a
dramatically improved state highway system. Right now I've made it east of Knoxville, Tennessee where I've stopped to sleep. I have about 588 miles left to go to make it to Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
